It has been a week since our 1 year birthday party on broadhead’s rooftop and we have so many people we need to thank. 🤯

First, our incredible hosts AND speakers from broadhead! I can’t thank CSO Emilie Hitch, COO Leigh Thiel for making this possible and for Pamala Saturn for her assistance in wrapping up some final details.

I also need to thank some of our NA beverage providers, young entrepreneurs Josie Miller and Della Daml for sharing samples of their new tonic water brand Charm Tonic. If you haven’t already, you have to keep your eyes peeled for what these two will do next!

I need to thank our incredible MN Women in AI volunteers and board members for helping make this event happen. This includes Summer Song, Noellar Kappa, Cihan Behlivan, Jena Zangs, Kristi Broom, Michelle Fields, Erica Hanna, Shannon Seaver, and some of our more spontaneous volunteer superstars including Princess Paula Skoviera, Zhen Zhuang, and so many more.

Kerstin Nye also deserves an extra special shout out, as someone who basically ran last week’s entire event with 5 minutes worth of prep. You were incredible and I now know who to call in any emergency situation. 💜

Finally, I need to thank all of you who came to help us celebrate! Fully comprehending how large MN Women in AI has become in one short year can be hard to comprehend and it was so incredible to see so many people gathered together in one space.

Thank you so much everyone for making last Wednesday so incredibly special. We can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

This Sunday, we will be hosting our third Builder Workshop called Building Agentic Systems with Claude.

This is an intermediate-level event, so if you have never used an AI chatbot before, this might not be for you. But if you have played with chatbots a lot and aren’t sure what to do next OR you have started building agents and you’re not sure how to make them actually work well, this is the event for you.

We will also break into three groups.

• Beginners will build their first AI Agents with the incredible Deb Haas.

• Intermediates will build their first agentic systems (or teams of AI Agents) with Caroline Holden (me!).

• And our Advanced group will discover how to 10x their agentic systems with the fantastic Adam Johnson.

A year ago tomorrow, a group of fabulous ladies got together at Malcolm Yards excited to meet other AI nerds like themselves.

The group included community leaders at orgs like MNSearch, Applied AI, Minnestar, Full Stack St Paul, Communiful, CreateMPLS, and BETA.MN, data / AI leadership at the University of St Thomas, former educators, engineers and data scientists, financial advisors, top notch consultants, public speakers, many entrepreneurs, multiple former New Yorkers & Californians, two Emmy Award Winning journalists / filmmakers, and quite a few marketers.

At the time we marveled at how many women signed up for the event (over 60!) and how many people showed up for our first gathering (over 45!) and how we were all eager to learn as much as we could about AI.

Since then, a lot has changed!

Happy Wednesday MN Women in AI!

We are rapidly approaching one year of Minnesota Women in AI on June 17th! Even our program manager, i.e. me, Emery, has landed in from NYC to celebrate. (It’s a bit like a Bigfoot sighting for those of you who’ve interacted with me behind the scenes!)

We’re currently in the planning of a birthday party (TBD). Maybe it’ll be at a lake? Maybe it’ll be in the city? Who can say?

Thank you for those of you who’ve been on this ride from the beginning and to everyone who has joined since. Building a space for you to share your experiences, goals, and excitement has been an awesome journey and we’re just getting started.

A MN Women in AI member of ours, Kate Wade at Get Her Hired, is running a research survey on AI and women in senior corporate roles, and I wanted to put it in front of you and anyone in your networks.

It is called Will AI Eat Your Job? and it is built specifically for women at director level and above who are trying to figure out what AI actually means for their careers. You get a personalized result (one of four profiles) plus three concrete moves you can make this week based on where you land. The data is being used to build a white paper on AI exposure for women in corporate leadership.

If you are in a corporate role, or you know women who are, this is three minutes well spent.
